This is book one in the dragon keeper series by Donita K. Paul. The protagonist, Kale Allerion, has finished her life as a slave and now goes to serve Paladin at The Hall in Vendela. After being kidnapped and escaping, Kale finds herself pulled into a quest that will determine the fate of Amara. I give this book a 5 out of 5. It was very engaging and had a great plot and theme.
